Covering form of preliminary or final report
BackDescription:
On 28 June 2023, the pilot of the Pilatus PC-6/B2-H4 aircraft was conducting a flight at LKPM for the purpose of a parachute drop. After completing the drop of 9 parachutists from FL140, he started a steep descent in order to position before the last turn and landing on the unpaved RWY 24R. The final approach and landing took place in crosswind conditions while the aircraft touched down on the grass strip in front of RWY 24R. Having landed, the aircraft in the landing run started drifting to the right and tilted vigorously to the left while raising the right-hand wheel of the main landing gear. The static trim fixed from below to the outer split half of the left aileron got caught in the grass surface and was pulled out on the outer split half of the left aileron from the suspension on the wing. The pilot was not hurt. The left half of the aircraft wing was damaged.
The air accident was caused by the fact that the pilot had failed to keep control of the direction when landing with an unlocked skid in crosswind conditions. As a result, the aircraft drifted and tilted to the left. Due to that, the end of static trim on the left aileron got caught in the grass strip surface.
